Short version

I'm going to give you a spiritual experience. Right now. Through your phone.

You might think you're just reading a post. You aren't. You're having a meeting with your own soul, you just haven't recognised it yet.

Look at the hand holding this phone. Notice three things:

The hardware: your hand and your thumb. This is just a biological machine.

The software: the thoughts in your head weighing up these words. That's just a programme running.

The Witness: the "You" that's watching the hand and observing the thoughts.

The realisation: the Witness is the real you. That's your spirit. It's completely separate from everyday stress. The person worrying about bills or the washing is just a character on a screen; the Witness is the one holding the remote control.

You aren't a body trying to be spiritual. You're the spirit watching the body.

This is a Gateway Experience. It's a way for you to stop thinking about being a spirit, and actually start noticing it.

Right, you're doing it now. You're holding an object made of glass and metal. Your thumb is moving. Your eyes are tracking pixels. Your brain is firing off signals to file these words under "interesting" or "useful".

Stop reading for a second. Don't look away from the phone, just look at your own hand holding it.

Notice that there are three distinct layers in this moment:

The machine: the hand, the thumb, the eyes. This is your biological hardware.

The programme: the thoughts in your head judging this text, the ones saying, "I need to finish reading this so I can check my email." That's just software.

The Witness: the one watching the hand hold the phone. The one observing the thoughts about the phone.

The "aha" moment: the spiritual experience isn't the words I've written. It's the fact that there's an Observer inside you that's completely separate from today's stress.

The version of you that worries about the rent, the school run or the washing is just a film running through a projector. The Witness, the spirit, is the one sitting in the dark cinema watching it happen.

The universal connection: you aren't a lonely island. You're a single expression of the whole universe.

Think of it like this. You're a wave rising out of the sea. For a moment you look separate. You've got your own shape and your own lifespan. But you never stopped being the sea; you just forgot it for a moment.

You don't need to find yourself. You just need to recognise who it is that's been holding the phone all along.
