How to win an argument with a dead person
Short version
How to win a fight with a dead person.
Death isn't a personality transplant. If somebody was controlling, jealous or ego-driven on Monday and they die on Tuesday, they don't wake up a saint on Wednesday.
This morning I did a reading for a client who felt there were three people in her marriage, and one of them was dead. The third person was no Helper; she was a jealous ex who refused to let go.
If you're being haunted by a memory that's trying to control your life, remember: you have the power. You hold all the cards, because you own the present.
The whole truth about how you take your place back is below 👇
Long version
Don't assume all spirits have good intentions.
Some are exactly the same difficult people they were when they had a pulse.
I held up a mirror to a spirit this morning, and she absolutely hated what she saw.
Most people think that when somebody dies they automatically become better, or wise and peaceful. That isn't true.
This morning I did a reading for a client who felt there were three people in her marriage, and one of them was dead. The third person, a woman, wasn't there to protect her ex; she was there because her ego couldn't stand being forgotten. She clung to him as a way of reminding herself that she was bigger in life than she really was.
This particular spirit didn't care about her ex's new relationship; she still saw him as her husband and was horribly jealous. She was even suspicious and sceptical of me because I pointed it out.
LOL. She sat with me in my office, listening to what I said and reading what I wrote. Not out of curiosity, but because she couldn't HELP listening. She simply had to know what was being said about her.
Here's the thing: dead people can be unreasonable, stubborn and self-absorbed. Sometimes they try to live their lives through us because they won't let go of their own past.
But in situations like this, we hold all the power. I mean it!
In this morning's reading I was direct with my client, but I was even more direct with the problem ex. Nobody likes being shown how unreasonable they are. Nobody likes being told their insecurity is something they should be working on, well away from the rest of us. There's enough drama in our relationships without a dead ex stirring up trouble!
Here's how you win the fight:
Own your space. When you feel the shadow or the memory of the ex turning up, move closer to your partner. Hold their hand, give them a kiss, or just smile at them. It distracts them and turns the memory into a "we" thing, not a "them" thing. It also denies the problem ex the attention they crave.
Create new over old. The only way to truly banish old memories to the past is to build new ones on top of them. If there's something your partner wishes they'd done with the ex, go and do it with them yourself.
Remember who you are. Your partner chose you. You're the one who can drink wine, eat good food, go on holiday and have a real conversation. The problem ex is confined to memory. They have no physical power unless you hand it to them.
Simply by changing your perspective, you deny that spirit any sense of ownership or power. You're the one with the physical life, which means you're the one holding all the cards.
To be clear: I'm not talking about the warm, good memories of loved ones that cheer us up. I'm talking about the shadows that try to control our lives.
This is real life, and those of you who are haunted by somebody else's memory will know exactly how it feels. 💪🙂
