You're still here, so you've won more than you've lost
You're still here, aren't you? That means you've won more than you've lost.
If you really were the failure your head keeps trying to tell you that you are, you wouldn't be where you are right now. You wouldn't have made it this far. You wouldn't have survived everything that brought you to this exact moment.
But your ego doesn't want you to remember that.
I worked on a reading for Marit this morning. She wanted to know why she can't manage to live her most authentic life.
This is what I saw: Marit was letting her past, every single failure, every embarrassing situation, every time she felt she'd cocked it up, run the entire show. Her head kept whispering: if you try something new, you'll fail. Again.
So she stays in her comfort zone. Or worse, she self-sabotages before she's even started.
Here's what her ego had so conveniently forgotten:
All the wins. All the brilliant experiences. The lovely people she's met. The feeling of being fired up, the passion, the exciting creative explosions.
Her head was so busy replaying her worst moments that it ignored the highlights entirely.
Sound familiar?
You are not the sum of your mistakes. None of us is. We're a brilliant, gloriously complicated mix of absolutely everything that brought us to this point. Wonderful 😍🤩
The mistakes? Sure, of course they're there. They're part of the foundation we build on. But so are the wins, the times we really hit the mark, the growth, and the moments we turned up and grafted, especially when it was hardest.
So, my love, you glorious mix of ups and downs: lean into the memory of your own success!
Remind yourself of all the brilliant things you've achieved. Write them down, save them as pictures on your phone, print them out and stick them up absolutely everywhere, and tell your ego to sod off ;-)
Right, so that's today's lesson, and my thought for the day...
