Right now, Marit smells of shit. And death brings out the worst in us.
I had a telephone reading with Marit this morning. She spent 40 minutes raging because her (late) father left the house and the money to her sister, despite the fact that it was Marit who was the primary carer.
Marit was standing there with a steaming fresh cowpat in her hand. She expected a payout for her efforts.
But instead of coming through with a hug and some warm words, he came through with a kick up the backside.
He was blunt: "It was my money, my house and my belongings, and I left them to the right person. I did the right thing with them."
He told Marit she was behaving like a spoilt child, that she'd had him wrapped round her little finger for decades, and that she'd already had more than her sister whilst he was still alive.
Marit burst into tears, of course, when I told her.
Anger and bitterness are like holding a fistful of muck and hoping the smell bothers somebody else. It doesn't. It just means you're the one who stinks, until the people you love would rather stand somewhere else.
It's like the story from the Visuddhimagga: a man picks up a red-hot iron to throw at an enemy, but only ends up burning his own hand. And of course, the longer you hold on to it, the deeper the burn.
You won't be punished for your anger, you lovely Facebook lot. You'll be punished by it.
So wash your hands and get rid of the muck you're holding. It'll make you happier, and it'll make the people around you happier too 🥰💩🥰
