I can't meditate, and I have stopped pretending otherwise
I can't meditate. I just can't do it.
My mind wanders from "what shall we have for dinner" to "did I remember to book new shoes for the horses", and plenty more besides. The messages I get from you lovely Facebook people tell much the same story. There's simply too much noise!
Well, at least it means your brain is working 😉
The myth of the "perfect" meditation — the one where you sit in the lotus position for an hour in total silence — is just more noise. It's another example of us following other people's paths instead of working things out for ourselves.
These days, meditation for me isn't about sitting still and forcing everything out of my head. I can't focus on a candle flame, or chant "Om" for 10 minutes, never mind 60 minutes or more!
Instead, it's about simply stepping off the hamster wheel and giving myself a few minutes to be present.
Whether that's walking out of the house to fetch the post, or waiting in the car for my teenage son to finish playing Romeo to his Juliet. Or winding a new ball of wool I've just spun myself (yes, I spin my own wool).
Those small moments where there's a chance of some sort of peace inside my head — that's my meditation.
You don't need to twist your legs into magical positions; you just need to become a bit more present for a few moments. It helps to pay attention to your breathing, and it helps to listen to the sound of the weather. But don't get carried away with it all. It's all just noise until you notice you're a little more relaxed than you were a moment ago.
According to a dictionary on my computer (the source of much that is useless), meditation means: to notice thoughts; reflection; contemplation. BORING!
My meditation is often about finding a small scrap of peace in my mind — one that isn't filled with logistics, or children, or dinner plans, or why the h*ll I've had yet another invoice from Vegamot!?
These days we're bombarded by people and companies telling us what to think. So maybe thinking a little less for a few moments is what we actually need. Maybe we just need to turn down the volume on the consumer war being waged at us, and realise that underneath all the noise there's just "us". Simple, uncomplicated "us".
Maybe this makes me an anti-meditator (that's a new word that isn't in the dictionary on my computer... yet 😉).
So for you (if you want), and for me, meditation is going to be about noticing "me". Noticing that small scrap of peace I get from being present in the moment, in my moment. And that's all. It's personal, and private, and just "me" and just "you".
I hope you have a fantastic and peaceful week, beautiful people 🥰

Ad: READINGS COST 1,500kr. They are personal, specific and detailed. I make a point of writing down exactly what I see, I don't change it in any way to make it easier to read. Every reading is longer than 2 A4 pages and takes at least two hours to write. I give every reading the respect it deserves and the time it needs, whether that's two hours or six. I have worked as a psychic, medium and healer for nearly thirty years, I love what I do, and I am proud of it. If you want a reading, send me a message on Messenger and we'll take it from there. If you're feeling brave, Vipps to the number 469 46 054, and send me a message afterwards. I work on each reading in the order it is received. I hope your week is going well, Facebook folks!
