A hundred years of progress, and the hamster wheel it built

Happy Monday, Facebook folk 😊

A hundred years ago today, the first commercial television broadcast was made. That is the same year my grandfather was born.

It is extraordinary to think about the changes we have made since then — for better and for worse.

500 years ago we sailed around the world for the first time (as far as we know).

300 years ago the steam engine was invented.

200 years ago the first bicycle was invented.

Today we have self-driving cars, space travel, and the ability to talk to anyone in the world, anywhere.

But we also have laser-guided bombs, armed autonomous drones, mutually assured destruction, and governments so large that they no longer represent the people they are supposed to serve.

Just because we can does not mean we should.

Progress cannot be stopped, but we can decide the direction it takes.

We can take responsibility for ourselves, for our own lives and for what we do.

We can decide to build a stronger connection with our spiritual side.

We can decide to be more in touch with our own nature and the nature around us.

We can decide to use social media to stay in touch with people who live a long way from us.

We can use YouTube to learn new skills.

We can be happy people, content with living a life that has meaning for us at an individual level.

Get off the hamster wheel.

I hope that over the next hundred years we manage to evolve our way out of this ever-faster way of living. I hope we find a way back to a more natural life — slower, more family- and community-minded. A more local, more connected life. Actually connected, not virtually connected.

Just something to think about on a Monday 🙂

Ad: Readings cost 1,500 kr. They are personal, specific and detailed. I make a point of writing exactly what I see. I do not change it in any way to make it easier to read. Every reading is longer than two A4 pages and takes at least two hours to write. I give each reading the respect it deserves and the time it needs, whether that is two hours or six. I have worked as a psychic, medium and healer for nearly thirty years. I love what I do and I am proud of it.

If you would like a reading, send me a message on Messenger and we will take it from there. If you are feeling brave, Vipps the number 469 46 054, choose "email reading", and send me a message afterwards. I work on each reading in the order it arrives.
