A (dead) friend of mine has offered to do a question and answer session. For me, talking to dead people is an everyday event, but I'm aware that isn't the case for everyone else. So I asked David, someone I've known for many years, whether he would mind answering some of your questions. He laughed and thought it would be interesting, and here we are!
Here's how it will work. . .
You post your questions for David in the comments, and in a couple of days I'll sit down with David and he'll answer them.
This is a chance to ask someone who died twenty years ago anything at all about death, about dying, about life immediately afterwards, about leaving your family behind, and anything else that comes into your head. Be brave and ask the things you really wonder about. David doesn't mince his words and he isn't afraid of difficult questions.
I'll pick as many questions as I can and spend a couple of hours going through them with him.
Just in case you want some background on David: he died in 2005 after an accident. He was 33 at the time, with a two-year-old daughter and a partner.
Like me, David grew up in Manchester, England. He loved city life and only started taking life seriously when his partner told him she was pregnant. From that moment it was as though someone had flicked a switch, and he transformed into an over-cautious, super-sensible, Ford Focus-driving, suburban, soon-to-be dad. He's laughing with embarrassment at my description of him, but he can't deny how accurate it is.
Today is Monday. I'll gather your questions over the course of the week and write them all up in a post on Friday.
