When the scaffolding comes down, the real relationship starts
I was working on a reading yesterday for someone having problems with their partner. They've been together for decades, but she feels that everything that held them together has gone.
It's sad. BUT! . . .
We have a strange idea about long-term relationships. We think they're supposed to feel solid, safe and full of connection all the time. When that feeling fades, we panic. We think it's broken. We think the love has gone.
I can tell you honestly, and with thousands of readings behind me, that usually is NOT the case.
At the start, a relationship is held together by strong, obvious things: passion, the excitement of building a life, shared goals, raising a family. Those things are scaffolding. They're essential for a while, while we build our lives together, but they were never meant to be the permanent structure.
Over time, the scaffolding naturally comes down. The children grow up and move out, the mortgage gets paid off, the initial fire settles into embers. You look at each other across the dinner table and think, WTF?
You might feel a sense of emptiness, a gaping silence where all that noise, madness and life used to be.
This is the point where you might think it's over. But I see it as the point where the real relationship can finally begin.
That emptiness and gaping silence isn't a void, it's an opportunity. It's the chance to build a new connection, a deeper one.
This new connection isn't based on shared duties or old passions. It's based on a much quieter question: "Who are you now, and who do we want to be?"
I'm sure Mrs Milton-Jones looks at me occasionally and wonders "why?" — in fact, I know she does. But we've grown together, fought battles together, and each of us knows the other inside out and backwards. I know how she'll react when I press her buttons, and I know what she's going to say before she says it.
That's the point where life with a real partner can properly begin. Having fought those battles together and knowing each other inside out, that's the strongest foundation there is to build a future on.
Taking this perspective is only one small step away from worrying that all the noise and madness has gone. If you take it, you're not just saving the relationship — you're letting it find new depths you could never have reached while the scaffolding was still in the way.
It's a rare thing these days, but it's possible. It's in that quiet, apparently empty space that a partnership can plan together and find the strength to last for decades.
What are your thoughts on this? Am I talking rubbish? I don't think so, but Mrs Milton-Jones regularly tells me not to let the rose-tinted glasses slip.
Have a fantastic weekend, finest Facebook folk 😍

Ad: READINGS COST 1,500kr. They are personal, specific and detailed. I make a point of writing down exactly what I see, I don't change it in any way to make it easier to read. Every reading is longer than 2 A4 pages and takes at least two hours to write. I give every reading the respect it deserves and the time it needs, whether that's two hours or six. I have worked as a psychic, medium and healer for nearly thirty years, I love what I do, and I am proud of it. If you want a reading, send me a message on Messenger and we'll take it from there. If you're feeling brave, Vipps to the number 469 46 054, and send me a message afterwards. I work on each reading in the order it is received. I hope your week is going well, Facebook folks!
