Is my life going to get better?

Is my life going to get better?

Early today I was working on a reading for someone who wanted me to look at her future, let's call her Marit. Looking into someone's future is normal and usually interesting. But the only thing Marit wanted to know was whether her life was going to get better.

At first glance that's a simple reading, and I was happy to dive into it. But the more I "read" Marit, the more complicated it got. "Is my life going to get better?" became an almost desperate, pleading question, rather than just a casual hope.

It was obvious that this lovely lady was constantly looking backwards, watching all the things that had happened in her past. She was determined to keep an eye on them so they didn't come back and bite her on the arse.

When I looked at Marit's future, I saw the same rubbish happening over the next ten years that she had lived through over the last thirty. Phew. That sucks, because I like Marit. She's one of those solid, down-to-earth people who is strong for everyone around her but not very good at standing up for herself.

I wrote her a long, thorough reading, detailing what I saw in her future and explaining in big, bold letters that IT IS NOT SET IN STONE!

"The wake of the boat shows us where we have come from, it doesn't show us where we are going."

I suggested to Marit that if she is aware of what she doesn't like about her current life, she can make choices to change it. If she makes one choice that is different, just one, she will start to have faith in it. One different choice changes the future. One small different choice changes the future today, tomorrow and ten years from now as well.

I explained to Marit at length that she has an enormous history of experiences, and those experiences make her a fascinating person. But they mean nothing in terms of her future, unless she decides to keep on having the same experiences.

At first glance that sounds easy, but of course it takes a bit of effort. For some reason we cling to our negative patterns as though we get some kind of comfort from them. I don't care about the psychology behind it, but I do care about pointing out that we can CHOOSE something else.

If we know what we don't like about our lives, we can choose to make different choices. If we keep choosing something other than the things we don't like, we start an avalanche. One different choice is unique and interesting. Repeating that choice over and over creates a new habit.

The point I'm trying to make, in a very roundabout way, is that we all lean heavily on past experience, but it shouldn't become a crutch.

I can't do "X" because when I was young. . . "X" happened last time I tried, so I'm not trying again. . . I've seen "X" happen too many times, so I'm not going to. . .

Make choices other than the ones that keep you stuck in the past. Test it yourself — make one small choice that is different and see what happens. The avalanche is a delicate thing, it doesn't take much to get it going.

Right now I'm choosing not to get angry about the shit my kids leave lying around the house — instead I'm choosing to smile and switch off the internet 🙂. Maybe I can change their habits too?

I hope you all have an excellent week, beautiful Facebook people!

Ad: READINGS COST 1,500 kr. They are personal, specific and detailed. I make a point of writing down exactly what I see, I don't change it in any way to make it easier to read. Every reading is longer than 2 A4 pages and takes at least two hours to write. I give every reading the respect it deserves and the time it needs, whether that's two hours or six. I have worked as a psychic, medium and healer for nearly thirty years, I love what I do, and I am proud of it. If you want a reading, send me a message on Messenger and we'll take it from there. If you're feeling brave, Vipps to the number 469 46 054, and send me a message afterwards. I work on each reading in the order it is received. I hope your week is going well, Facebook folks!
